Let’s Start Fresh

So, I’m back … for real this time … I have a lot of stuff to tell you all – I am hoping you had a chance to read my previous blog posts because they get even better – I will even ad pictures because I’ve been taking lots of those!
Since my last real post, Taylor has moved in with us.  This happened last July (2013) for a number of reasons.  As you know, he has Chorea Huntington and is an absolute joy to have around!  When he was at that age he needed regular supervision and assisted living.  He was born in 1998 and just turned 16 this year.  He’s an avid gamer and LOVES his Xbox, PS3 and laptop.  As much as this is great for him, we try to limit his time on the electronics like that.
Another reason he moved in was because his mother “needed a break” … from what is beyond me … but that’s a whole different post I could write about … when we have Taylor he comes up from his room to eat and use the washroom.  He’s absolutely NO trouble whatsoever.  I don’t care what anyone says, I could NOT let someone else raise my children – I’m sorry, that’s just me – I had kids for a reason, one of which wasn’t to pawn them off onto someone else.

My oldest, Alyssa, as you know is living in Halifax – a good 5 hour drive away – she’s on her own but close enough where I can jump into my car and go see her when she needs me – which I’ve done.  When her and her boyfriend broke up, she was pretty upset and depressed so I found myself jumping into my car to be by her side.  I won’t lie, I was worried. She’s suffered in the past with purging and I was scared she’d turn to something drastic.  I got there and we spent some mommy time together, did some retail therapy, and she seemed in better spirits when I left.

John’s oldest, Cody, is now 19 years old.  He lives on his own.  We still don’t see him much.  About a month ago he was here and told me he was clean from drugs for 2 weeks and hugged me.  I knew this was true because he only really hugs me when he’s in that state.  I was hoping he’d stay off the drugs because he’s such a different kid, but I think it was short lived.  He no longer comes around so I’m suspecting he’s back into it.

And then there’s Ashley … it has been SUCH a rough two years.  I think I’ll save that for my next post … she graduated last week and I want to include some prom/graduation pictures of her and her girlfriend …
